Yin Yoga, Summer Term 2017

NEW Yoga Class!

Do you stay busy, and run from task to task, and by the end of the day feel so wound up it is hard to relax?

Does releasing tension in the body, particularly around the shoulders and hips, sound enticing?  Want to learn techniques for reducing mental stress?  Is cultivating calm and patience an important goal?

Has weight training or running left your hips or shoulders feeling like the tin man?  Are you fit but tight?

Perhaps you work at a desk or drive long distances, and those hamstrings feel like knots.  Or maybe life stressors have you a little too inactive and your body is aching for more motion.

Or maybe you are a passionate person with a fiery temperament who yearns for a little cooling calm, patient, and mental mastery.

If any of these sound familiar, then THIS is the yoga class for you!  No prior yoga experience is necessary, and Yin is also a way for long-term yoga enthusiasts to slow down and deepen and perhaps even re-enliven their practice.


Explore this new class, beginning August 1 for Summer Term:  YIN YOGA.


YIN YOGA is particularly great for ATHLETES, especially STRENGTH TRAINERS, RUNNERS, and WEIGHT LIFTERS, who desire fluid movement and mental calm to take their training to the next level, or simply make life more enjoyable.  Yin Yoga is also well-suited for those with achy joints or who crave more movement, and it may provide relief for stiff scar tissue or inflammation.


YIN YOGA meets every Tuesday at 7:30 – 8:30 pm.

Yin Yoga is an incredibly fruitful technique to foster a calm mind as well as comfortable body, aiding those who love life, discipline, and strive to achieve life goals and dreams.

Yin Yoga includes long holds of classic yoga postures, which lead to very deep opening, releasing connective tissue around the joints, particularly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine. Because this approach requires us to slow down, the mental gains of Yin Yoga are incredible.  Yin Yoga develops patience and body-awareness, while releasing tight spots and gripping, whether physical or mental.  Thus, Yin is a great practice if you desire to cultivate a meditative focus on and off the mat to bring more serenity, mobility, and positive thinking into your life.

Yin Yoga builds subtle wisdom, fluid movement, freedom of the mind, and knowing of the body.  Come experience YIN sensations and feel fresher and more empowered to tackle each day with ease and contentment.
